Happy Place ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and their families.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Happy Place app
and website.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: When a parent or guardian creates an account, we collect an email address and a child's first name or nickname. We do not collect surnames, addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
- Usage data: We store the child's progress — total stars earned, rewards claimed, games played, videos watched and topics explored — solely to provide continuity across sessions and devices.
- No advertising tracking: We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics services.
2. How We Use Information
- To save and restore the child's stars, progress and redeemed rewards across devices.
- To personalise the experience (greeting by name, chosen avatar and mood).
- To allow parents to monitor their child's progress via the Parents Dashboard.
- We never sell, share, or rent personal data to any third party.
3. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Happy Place is designed for children. All accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian —
not the child directly.
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR provisions for children's data (GDPR-K).
We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children without verifiable parental consent.
Parents may request deletion of their child's data at any time by contacting us.
4. Data Storage & Security
Account and progress data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure).
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. We apply row-level security so
each account can only access its own data.
5. Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Used for secure user authentication and data storage. Supabase Privacy Policy.
- YouTube embeds: The Videos section embeds YouTube videos. These are loaded in restricted mode. YouTube's privacy policy applies to embedded videos.
- CrazyGames Kids: The Fun Games section links to child-safe games on CrazyGames Kids. Their own privacy policy applies when a game is played.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
You may delete your account at any time by submitting a request via our contact form.
All associated personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of the request.
7. Your Rights
- Access: You may request a copy of the data we hold about your account.
- Correction: You may update your child's name, avatar or mood at any time within the app.
- Deletion: You may request permanent deletion of all account data.
- Portability: You may request an export of your data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes
by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after
changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
